Turning a Culinary Philosophy into Spatial Simplicity
Redesigning a village inn with modern warmth & quiet confidence
Tucked away in a Leicestershire village not far from our old studio, The Pear Tree Inn had always been a cherished local — and a firm favourite for our team socials. A place of Sunday roasts, celebratory toasts, and long lunches that stretched into the afternoon. When the family behind it set out to evolve their offering — from local favourite to contemporary dining destination — we translated their culinary clarity into considered design.
Their idea had always been simple, a small menu means a good menu. We turned that belief into a compelling design philosophy — one that was deliberately pared back, subtly elevated. Less fuss, more feeling.
Working in collaboration with the family, we crafted a new interior design scheme that is quietly confident. A palette of soft neutrals and rich earthy tones sets the tone — relaxed but elevated. Raw materials meet refined finishes. Architectural moments are subtle, but intentional. Intimate corners and communal sharing tables bring a social rhythm to the space. Warm light. Deep hues. Just the right side of moody. A layout that moves seamlessly from a relaxed bar to an atmospheric snug to an open dining room built for slow rituals and special moments.
This was a project rooted in collaboration and care — a creative partnership that reimagined a place many of us knew well into a contemporary village inn that retained it's heart and heritage of this much loved bar and restaurant.
