Currently we’re seeing an influx of investment in physical retail. But what’s really interesting is the ambition behind it: brands are moving beyond trend-led interiors towards brand spaces designed with a distinctive POV that facilitate cultural conversations.

Premiumisation is setting the pace. From sport to beauty, fashion to automotive – even with more conservative and value retailers - brands want more aspirational store environments and experiences. Today’s more selective customers need stronger reasons to buy. Quality and relevance, value as well as genuinely feeling valued.
Tighter product edits should remove noise, not sales opportunities. More breathing room should bring quality into focus and heighten engagement. The challenge isn’t to borrow a luxury aesthetic, but to elevate the way in which consumers experience your brand. This isn’t as simple as an elevation in material but a more considered, confident and intentional design.
Our work with Antler elevated the luggage retail experience, with a sensory destination for modern travellers - bringing the warmth of hospitality and the sensibility of British landscapes into it’s spatial atmosphere.

Retail as a cultural host. Retail is becoming a cultural canvas: somewhere to meet, participate and belong. Running meet-ups, branded cafés and neighbourhood events are reshaping brands in the role of a host.
But adding a coffee counter doesn’t create community. Brands need to contribute to culture, not simply reflect it, giving people reasons to return beyond the next purchase. Spaces need to be designed with a degree of malleability. Our collaboration with adidas at 8428 Melrose created an evolving gallery and innovation lab: a creative incubator that invites people into the brand’s world and gives collaborators room to be explored in a truly unique way.
The retail benchmark is rising. But the real opportunity is to keep pushing the bar higher, not just keep pace - earning a place in people’s lives beyond the next purchase.
“The real opportunity is not to just keep pace - but earning a place in people’s lives beyond the next purchase.”
